This section on forms explains how to fill the forms out so that they are in compliance with the standard for genealogy.

Below is a copy of a family group sheet in PDF format. When you click on the link at the bottom of the form, it will open in PDF,  If you do not have Adobe Reader installed on your computer, you can click on the download link on the right lower side to download and install.

After the form is opened, you can then fill it out online and print the copy. On the right side of the page , you will find instructions on how to fill the forms out. There is a total of three links for the PDF  forms, page 1,2 and 3.

After filling out the form, click on the button at the top. It will take you to the next form which is a pedigree form.

Instructions:

1. NAMES:

Write given names as the following example shows: First"Nickname" Middle LAST. Would look like this on the sheet, David "Davy" CARTER.

2. DATES:

Use this format to fill in the dates ( 13 Oct 1875).

*Note: By separating the numbers by  placing the month in between makes it easier to read.

If you do not know the date of an event, you can calculate. Example: If  a person shows on a census or other document as being 4 years old in  1895,you could calculate that he was born abt 1891.

You can write the abbreviation for before as (bef) if you're sure an event happened prior to that date.

If an event happened after a certain date, then you can write aft (after).

And if you know that and event happened between certain dates, then you can write it as bet 1900-1910.

If you are really sure that a person died, but not sure when, then write Dead in the box.
